On the walk
Loose leash walking can be quite monotonous to teach and does require us to be consistent. Every time a dog pulls and it works and they get to go further ahead, they have reinforced themselves.
So the easiest way I find to be consistent with loose leash walking when I am actually out and about on the walk is to be very mindful of what my body and the direction my feet are pointing. As soon as I feel the leash start to get a bit tighter as the dog is about to pull ahead I turn around 180 degrees and walk in that direction until the dog catches up to me and is walking in a position I like and then I turn 180 degrees back the original way! After a few steps of walking nice and loose I will mark with YES and reward. If it means I turn around 100 times on a walk, so be it! Quality over quantity!
If my feet and body are facing forwards and my dog is ahead of me, from my dogs point of you I'm telling them to go ahead. Our dogs are so good at reading our body language, better than we are! So by turning that 180 degrees you are showing the dog when you pull ahead I don't like that and we will change direction. I only give my food reward when we are walking the direction I had originally intended, showing them this is how we continue with forward motion.
Then we need to consistently do this in every environment so this becomes the new norm for our dogs.
